At the recent SPE Decarbonization Congress held on February 3–4, 2025 in Houston Texas, our University of Houston Petroleum Engineering student Mr. Zhiyuan (Thomas) Li placed first at the SPE poster session competition His poster paper title was “Carbon Neutral Economic Viability of Enhanced CO2 Storage and Gas Recovery in Natural Gas Reservoirs under Strong Bottom Water Drive.”
Dr. Gabriel Unomah and Dr. Mohamed Sarhan also of the University of Houston Petroleum Engineering received an Honorable mention. The title of their work was “Experimental Ultrasonic Velocity and Attenuation Measurements of H2 and CO2 Saturated Sandstones for Deep Saline Acquirer Storage”.
Congratulations to all three UH Petroleum Engineering students for their achievement and many thanks to their advisors Dr. Economides and Dr. Hatzignatiou for Mr. Li, and co-supervisors Dr. Myers and Dr. Soliman for Dr. Unomah and Dr. Sarhan.
